GONNA BE A GOOD ONE

They say it is going to be a good one.

Blue skies, quietly turn white

As snow filled clouds move in

Tonight, the near full moon

Cannot overcome clouds thick with moisture.

On my way home from work

I mentally check off my “be prepared” for power outage list:

  • Fill water containers, and bathtub, for flushing
  • Pull out camping lanterns, flash lights, Candles
  • Pick up “D” batteries
  • Make sure auxillary charger for cell phone is fully charged
  • Have portable radio ready
  • Leave car at end of driveway
  • Fill bird feeders for feathered friends
  • Whatever you do stay out of grocery stores

I get home, and make sure everything is handy,

Then zap, something tripped a circuit breaker,

and “the storm of the decade” is not even here yet.

I make my way to basement, flip the breaker and “POP”

Not a good sound coming from a breaker.

I turn the switch off. Check wires to making sure nothing feels hot.

Anything else is beyond my capacity to address-I am daring when it comes to DIY repairs, but not stupid

However, I am not going to get an electrician at this hour.

Decide I can do without electricity in my living room and bedroom for a day or more or until an electrician can come and check things out.

This all before a flake has fallen.

Yes, going to be a good one.

And loving the possible challenge.
